Prime Minister Carney Shares Thanksgiving Message Highlighting Unity and Gratitude

Carney reflects on family, community, and the shared strength of Canadians in a changing world.

Ottawa — Prime Minister Mark Carney issued a Thanksgiving message today encouraging Canadians to take time for gratitude, togetherness, and reflection amid the challenges of an increasingly fast-paced and uncertain world.

In his statement, Carney emphasized that Thanksgiving offers an important opportunity for families and friends to pause, reconnect, and appreciate what unites them as Canadians.

“Thanksgiving is a time for families and friends to gather and reflect,” Carney said. “In a fast-changing, more divided, more uncertain world, this is a moment to slow down, to focus on what matters, and to give thanks.”

The Prime Minister expressed gratitude for Canada’s freedoms, diversity, and resilience — qualities he described as the foundation of the nation’s strength.

“I am grateful for Canada, today and always. Grateful for the rights, freedoms, and opportunities we have as Canadians, and that all of us are part of one extraordinary, generous, and strong nation.”

A Message of Togetherness

Carney acknowledged that recent years have brought challenges for many Canadians but said those moments have also revealed the country’s deep sense of solidarity and compassion.

“This year has tested – and strengthened – the bonds we share as Canadians,” he said. “Although we have our challenges and differences, we are strongest when we are united – when we look out for each other and take care of one another.”

He concluded his Thanksgiving message with a simple wish for all Canadians:

“From my family to yours, happy Thanksgiving.”
