Prime Minister Carney Meets with Kenyan President William Ruto at UN General Assembly
Talks focus on Haiti security mission and deepening Canada–Kenya trade ties
New York City — Prime Minister Mark Carney met with Kenyan President William Ruto on the margins of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to discuss shared priorities in security and economic partnership.
Carney thanked President Ruto for Kenya’s leadership role in the United Nations Multinational Security Support mission in Haiti, which is working to restore stability and security in the country. He reiterated Canada’s strong support for multilateral efforts aimed at addressing the crisis.
Canada and Kenya are partners in key missions, including reducing poverty, empowering women, and building a more secure, peaceful world.

The two leaders also discussed opportunities to strengthen bilateral relations between Canada and Kenya, with an emphasis on building new trade and investment partnerships.
Both agreed to remain in close contact as Canada and Kenya explore deeper collaboration on global and regional priorities.
