Canada commits to ongoing humanitarian, security, and reconstruction support for Gaza
Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt – Prime Minister Mark Carney has concluded his participation at the Middle East Peace Summit in Egypt, marking what he described as “a vital first step toward lasting peace in the region.” The summit, co-chaired by the United States and Egypt, brought together world leaders and regional partners to formalize commitments under the U.S.-led peace framework that ended the war in Gaza and secured the release of hostages.
Prime Minister Carney expressed Canada’s gratitude to U.S. President Donald J. Trump for his leadership in brokering the ceasefire and advancing a comprehensive peace plan. He also thanked President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt, Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar, and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye for their roles in mediation efforts.
