Canada, Jordan Call for Urgent Ceasefire Amidst Rising Tensions in the Middle East

Paris, France — In light of escalating violence across the Middle East, Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly, alongside Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, has publicly called for an immediate ceasefire to protect civilians and promote stability in the region. The call, reinforced in a Twitter post by Minister Joly on October 25, comes amid mounting international pressure to halt the humanitarian toll of the conflict.

“With my 🇯🇴 counterpart Ayman Safadi, we discussed the current situation in the Middle East. We reaffirmed the need for an immediate ceasefire—an urgent de-escalation is necessary both for the protection of civilians and for the long-term stability of the region,” Joly wrote in the post. This sentiment highlights the countries’ unified stance on prioritizing civilian safety and underscores a shared belief in diplomacy as a pathway to peace.

The Jordanian-Canadian dialogue underscores a broader international effort to reduce hostilities as the situation intensifies. Both nations have engaged in discussions with global allies, emphasizing the importance of humanitarian aid corridors, civilian protection, and a sustainable approach to conflict resolution.

This joint statement marks Canada’s continued advocacy for peace and stability in the Middle East and illustrates a mutual commitment with Jordan to seek diplomatic resolutions in regions of conflict.
