Canada Affirms Support for Haiti Amid Community Concerns

Montréal, QC – Minister of Foreign Affairs Mélanie Joly and Minister of Housing and Diversity and Inclusion Ahmed Hussen met with members of the Haitian community in Montréal to discuss their concerns and challenges during a critical time for Haiti.

During the meeting, Joly emphasized Canada’s unwavering support for the Haitian people, highlighting the country’s commitment to restoring security and democratic governance through meaningful, Haitian-led solutions. “Canada stands firmly with Haiti,” she stated, reinforcing the importance of local leadership in addressing the nation’s issues.

Hussen echoed this sentiment, stating, “The people of Haiti deserve to shape their own future, and Canada is committed to helping make this a reality.” Both ministers recognized the urgency of the situation and pledged to work closely with community leaders to address pressing concerns.
