By-election Announced for TDSB Ward 11 Trustee

TORONTO — The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) has officially announced a by-election to fill the vacant trustee seat in Ward 11, with election day set for Monday, March 3, 2025. The decision was made during the TDSB meeting on Wednesday, December 11.

Nomination Period Opens
Candidates intending to run for the position can begin filing their nominations on Friday, December 13, at 2 p.m. The nomination period will remain open until 2 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025.

To qualify, candidates must meet specific criteria, including being a resident of Toronto, a public school supporter, and eligible to vote for TDSB trustee positions. Candidates must file their nomination papers in person at the Toronto Elections office at City Hall, located at 100 Queen St. W., first floor.

The office will be open for nominations from Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding statutory holidays. A $100 nomination filing fee must accompany the completed forms.

Candidate Information Available Online
As nominations are filed, the Toronto Elections website will provide an updated list of candidates. A final certified list will be published following the close of nominations on January 17, 2025.

Third Party Advertiser Registration
Individuals, corporations, and trade unions planning to promote or oppose candidates in the by-election must register as third-party advertisers. Registration opens on Friday, December 13, and closes on Friday, February 28, 2025.

Registrations can only be completed in person at the Toronto Elections office at City Hall. Registered third-party advertisers must comply with all advertising requirements under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, including clearly identifying themselves in advertisements.
