Brampton Steelheads Claim Victory Over Barrie Colts in a 4-1 Showdown
Brampton, ON – The Brampton Steelheads displayed an impressive performance at Sadlon Arena, securing a 4-1 victory against the Barrie Colts in front of a lively crowd of 2,293 fans on Thursday night. The Steelheads, now boasting a perfect record of 3-0-0 this season, demonstrated their offensive prowess, particularly in the second period.
The game began in a competitive first period, where both teams struggled to find the back of the net despite several opportunities. Brampton’s goaltender, Jack Ivankovic, was solid between the pipes, turning away all seven shots from the Colts. Conversely, Barrie’s Sam Hillebrandt faced pressure from the Steelheads, making 15 saves in the opening frame.

The tide turned in the second period as Brampton ignited their offense. Porter Martone opened the scoring at 11:33, with assists from Carson Rehkopf and Finn Harding. Just 18 seconds later, Angus MacDonell extended the Steelheads’ lead to 2-0, also benefiting from Martone’s setup. As the period wound down, Martone struck again, scoring his second goal of the night at 19:43 to give Brampton a commanding 3-0 lead heading into the third.
In the final period, Brampton continued to capitalize on their momentum. MacDonell scored his second goal of the game at 4:14 on a power play, further solidifying their dominance. Barrie managed to break through Ivankovic’s defense at 11:06 with a power-play goal from Emil Hemming, but it was too late to shift the momentum of the game.
Overall, the Steelheads outshot the Colts 39 to 23, reflecting their offensive control throughout the matchup. Ivankovic ended the night with 22 saves, earning his third victory of the season, while Hillebrandt recorded 35 saves in a losing effort.
