Brampton Steelheads Acquire Goaltender Brayden Gillespie from Guelph Storm

BRAMPTON, ON – The Brampton Steelheads have bolstered their goaltending lineup, acquiring Brayden Gillespie from the Guelph Storm. In exchange, the Steelheads sent a package of draft picks to the Storm, including a second-round pick in 2025, a third-round pick in 2026 (via London), and a conditional fifth-round pick in 2027 (via Barrie).

Gillespie, a native of Oakville, Ontario, has spent his OHL career with the Storm since being selected in the 11th round (#207 overall) of the 2021 OHL Draft. Over three seasons, the 19-year-old netminder appeared in 101 regular-season games, posting a 3.50 goals-against average (GAA), a .886 save percentage (SV%), and a (45-42-6-2) record.

Last season, Gillespie achieved career-highs with a 3.15 GAA and a .898 SV% while playing a personal-best 49 games. His postseason experience, featuring consecutive appearances in the OHL playoffs, adds depth and reliability to the Steelheads’ goaltending roster.

This trade marks the second deal between the Steelheads and the Storm in less than a month, underscoring Brampton’s active approach to roster building in their inaugural season at the CAA Centre.
