Brampton Steelheads Acquire Canucks Prospect Vilmer Alriksson in Trade with Guelph Storm
BRAMPTON, ON – The Brampton Steelheads have bolstered their lineup with the acquisition of Vancouver Canucks prospect Vilmer Alriksson from the Guelph Storm. The trade sees the Steelheads send a package of draft picks to Guelph, including a second-round pick in 2026, a third-round pick in 2025, and a third-round pick in 2027.
Standing at an imposing 6’6” and weighing 234 pounds, Alriksson brings a combination of size and skill to Brampton. The Swedish-born forward has spent two seasons with the Guelph Storm after being selected 34th overall in the 2023 CHL Import Draft. Alriksson’s performance with the Storm earned him a fourth-round selection by the Vancouver Canucks (#107 overall) in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.

During his tenure with Guelph, Alriksson appeared in 93 games, tallying 56 points (28 goals, 28 assists). This season, he has already contributed 23 points (11 goals, 12 assists) in 26 games, showcasing his ability to produce offensively while utilizing his size to create opportunities on the ice.
The trade is expected to strengthen the Steelheads as they continue to build for the future and compete in the OHL. Alriksson’s experience and potential make him a valuable asset for Brampton as they aim to make a strong push this season.
