Brampton Celebrates National AccessAbility Week with Flag-Raising Ceremony
BRAMPTON – On Monday, the City of Brampton officially launched National AccessAbility Week with a flag-raising ceremony at Ken Whillans Square. Mayor Patrick Brown, members of City Council, the Accessibility Advisory Committee, and community advocates attended the event, reaffirming Brampton’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and barrier-free city.
National AccessAbility Week, observed from May 25 to 31, celebrates the contributions of people with disabilities and promotes efforts to remove barriers to accessibility and inclusion. The City of Brampton is marking the week with a series of inclusive recreation programs and initiatives. These include adaptive sports, sensory-friendly activities, and community engagement events designed to promote accessibility and inclusion for all residents.

In addition to the flag-raising ceremony, the City has opened nominations for the 2025 Accessibility Awards, recognizing individuals, businesses, and organizations making significant contributions to accessibility in Brampton. Nominations are open from May 30 to July 31, 2025, and award recipients will be honored in December 2025.
