Blue Jays Advance to ALCS After 5–2 Win Over Yankees in Game 4

Toronto defeats New York to capture the 2025 ALDS and return to the American League Championship Series

NEW YORK — The Toronto Blue Jays are heading back to the American League Championship Series for the first time since 2016, defeating the New York Yankees 5–2 on Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium to win the ALDS three games to one.

Toronto’s pitching depth was the story of the night, with eight relievers combining to hold the Yankees to two runs. Using a full bullpen game, the Blue Jays kept New York’s hitters off balance while capitalizing on timely hitting to seize control early and never look back.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. opened the scoring in the first inning with an RBI single that plated George Springer. The Yankees briefly tied it in the third when Ryan McMahon homered off reliever Mason Fluharty, but the Blue Jays quickly reclaimed momentum.

In the fifth, Springer’s sacrifice fly restored Toronto’s lead, and in the seventh, Nathan Lukes delivered a two-run single to make it 4–1. An eighth-inning RBI single by Myles Straw extended the lead to 5–1, giving Toronto crucial insurance runs against a dangerous Yankees lineup.

Aaron Judge managed an RBI single in the ninth to score Jasson Domínguez, but Jeff Hoffman struck out Cody Bellinger to close the game and clinch the series.

The win capped a commanding postseason performance for Toronto, who outscored the Yankees 34–19 across four games.

The Blue Jays will now await the winner of the Detroit Tigers–Seattle Mariners series as they prepare for the American League Championship Series, which begins on Sunday.
