Addison Barger’s late homer caps dominant homestand for surging Toronto
TORONTO — The Toronto Blue Jays closed out a four-game sweep of the Oakland Athletics with an 8–4 comeback win on Sunday, June 1, at Rogers Centre, extending their winning streak to five games. Addison Barger delivered the decisive blow with a three-run homer in the eighth inning, turning a 4–3 deficit into a 6–4 lead.
The sweep improved Toronto’s record to 31–28, moving them into second place in the AL East, 5.5 games behind the Yankees.

The Blue Jays’ offense was potent throughout the series, outscoring the A’s 39–18 over four games. Notably, Bo Bichette hit his 100th career home run on May 31, becoming the first shortstop in franchise history to reach that milestone.
However, the team faced setbacks with injuries to key outfielders. Daulton Varsho was placed on the 10-day injured list due to a left hamstring injury sustained while attempting a triple on May 31. Additionally, Anthony Santander was sidelined with left shoulder inflammation.
To bolster the outfield, the Blue Jays recalled Davis Schneider and Alan Roden from Triple-A Buffalo. Reliever Erik Swanson was also activated from the 60-day injured list, while left-hander Easton Lucas was optioned back to Triple-A.
Toronto will look to maintain their momentum as they host the Philadelphia Phillies for a three-game series starting Tuesday, June 3.
