Blue Jays Win ALCS in Game 7, Advance to First World Series Since 1993

Springer’s clutch home run and Guerrero Jr.’s MVP performance lift Toronto past Seattle

TORONTO — For the first time in 32 years, the Toronto Blue Jays are heading to the World Series. Behind a dramatic late-game comeback and a clutch three-run home run from George Springer, the Jays defeated the Seattle Mariners 4–3 in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series at Rogers Centre.

The atmosphere inside the dome was electric as the Blue Jays overcame a 3–1 deficit late in the game. Seattle had taken control early, with Julio Rodríguez and Cal Raleigh each hitting solo home runs to push the Mariners ahead. But Toronto refused to fold.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, with two runners on, Springer delivered the biggest swing of the Blue Jays’ season — a towering three-run blast off reliever Eduard Bazardo that put Toronto up 4–3. It was the first go-ahead home run in a Game 7 while trailing by multiple runs in the seventh inning or later in Major League Baseball history.

Jeff Hoffman sealed the victory in the ninth inning, striking out the side to ignite a raucous celebration as players and fans embraced the long-awaited return to the Fall Classic.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was named ALCS MVP after batting .385 with three home runs and three doubles in the series, anchoring a Blue Jays lineup that combined power, patience, and postseason resilience.

The victory ends a three-decade drought for Toronto, whose last AL pennant came in 1993 — the same year the team went on to win the World Series on Joe Carter’s legendary walk-off home run.

The Blue Jays will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2025 World Series, beginning later this week.
