Blue Jays Stay Alive with 6–2 Win Over Mariners in Game 6

Trey Yesavage shines as Toronto forces decisive Game 7 at Rogers Centre

TORONTO — The Toronto Blue Jays refused to go quietly. Facing elimination, they defeated the Seattle Mariners 6–2 in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series on Sunday night at Rogers Centre, forcing a winner-take-all Game 7.

Rookie pitcher Trey Yesavage rose to the occasion once again, striking out seven over 5⅔ innings while allowing just two runs. The 22-year-old right-hander induced three double plays and kept Seattle’s bats off balance, showcasing poise beyond his years in the biggest start of his young career.

Toronto’s offence set the tone early. Addison Barger crushed a two-run home run in the third inning to give the Jays a 4–0 lead, while Vladimir Guerrero Jr. added his sixth homer of the postseason — a solo shot in the fifth — to extend the cushion. Nathan Lukes also contributed with an RBI single, capping a complete performance from Toronto’s lineup.

Seattle struggled defensively, committing three errors and grounding into three double plays that stalled multiple scoring opportunities. Luis Castillo, the Mariners’ starter, lasted just four innings, surrendering four runs on six hits.

The Rogers Centre crowd erupted as Toronto closed out the victory, fueled by Jeff Hoffman’s strong relief appearance that locked down the final outs.

With the win, the Blue Jays evened the ALCS at three games apiece, setting the stage for a dramatic Game 7 in Toronto — the franchise’s first since 2016. The winner will advance to the World Series.
