Blue Jays Let One Slip Late in Anaheim, Fall 8–3 to Angels

Toronto surrenders six runs in the 8th after strong start; third straight loss drops record to 16–19

ANAHEIM, Calif. — A promising night turned sour in the eighth inning as the Toronto Blue Jays gave up six late runs and dropped an 8–3 decision to the Los Angeles Angels in a game that ended just after 12:30 AM ET on Wednesday morning.

Toronto had early momentum behind solo home runs from George Springer and Anthony Santander, but the bullpen couldn’t hold a 2–2 tie down the stretch. Logan O’Hoppe’s RBI single and a three-run bomb from Yoán Moncada sparked the Angels’ game-breaking rally, with Jo Adell adding a solo shot to cap the six-run frame.

Right-hander José Ureña made his Blue Jays debut, giving up two earned runs over 4⅔ innings. Reliever Yimi García (0–2) was charged with the loss after allowing the go-ahead run following a costly defensive miscue. Héctor Neris (1–1) earned the win for the Angels.

Despite the early offensive sparks, the Jays couldn’t recover after the eighth-inning collapse and now sit at 16–19 on the season. It marks the team’s third straight loss.
