Guerrero’s Three-Run Blast Lifts Blue Jays Over Red Sox 4–2

TORONTO — Vladimir Guerrero Jr. crushed a three-run homer in the eighth inning to lift the Toronto Blue Jays to a 4–2 win over the Boston Red Sox on Thursday night at Rogers Centre. It was the Jays’ second consecutive victory — their first back-to-back wins since April 18.

Trailing 2–0 after six innings, Daulton Varsho sparked the comeback with a solo shot off Tanner Houck in the seventh. It was Varsho’s second home run in as many nights and his first series since returning from shoulder surgery.

In the eighth, Nathan Lukes singled and Bo Bichette doubled off Wilyer Abreu’s glove in right field, setting the stage for Guerrero’s game-winning, 404-foot blast to left off Justin Slaten (0–2). Guerrero’s homer was his fourth of the season.

José Berríos delivered another strong start, giving up two runs and seven hits over 6⅔ innings while striking out eight and walking two. Mason Fluharty (2–0) retired all four batters he faced in relief, and Yimi García closed the door in the ninth for his second save.

Boston’s only runs came via a bases-loaded double from Alex Bregman in the fifth. Houck was excellent for the Sox, allowing just four hits and one run through seven innings with six strikeouts.

Key Stat: The Blue Jays are 3–0 this season when hitting two or more home runs in a game. They hit a season-high three in Wednesday’s 7–6 win.

Next Up: RHP Chris Bassitt (2–2, 2.62 ERA) opens Toronto’s weekend series vs. Cleveland on Friday. The Guardians counter with LHP Logan Allen (1–2, 4.21 ERA).
