Big Burger Battle Brings Sizzling Competition to Canadian TV
Toronto – A new culinary showdown is set to fire up screens across Canada as Corus Entertainment’s Big Burger Battle premieres on Monday, April 21, at 9 p.m. ET on Flavour Network and STACKTV. Hosted by award-winning actor and comedian Andrew Phung, the Canadian original series puts the beloved burger in the spotlight with a high-stakes competition that brings together top culinary talent.
Phung is joined by a panel of esteemed judges, including celebrated chef and restaurateur Connie DeSousa and Burger Scholar author and TV personality George Motz. Throughout the season, competitors will face three intense rounds of burger-themed challenges, all leading up to a grand finale where one champion will walk away with a $25,000 cash prize, an all-inclusive Sunwing Vacations trip, and the coveted Big Burger Battle Champion title.
The Ultimate Burger Showdown
Each episode begins with the “Fast Food” challenge, where competitors must transform a mystery ingredient into a unique burger-inspired dish. The chefs with the least impressive creations are sent to “Burgatory,” forced to sit out the next round. In the “Burger Bucks” challenge, the remaining contestants compete for a $5,000 prize, creating a bold and innovative burger featuring a standout ingredient. The final round, “Big Burger Elimination,” sees those exiled to “Burgatory” return for a last chance at redemption, crafting gourmet burgers with a signature side to avoid elimination.
Week after week, the pressure mounts until only three chefs remain. Among the competitors vying for the title are:
- Danielle Casario (Vernon River, PEI) – Owner of The Seafood Shack
- Christina Fitzgerald (St. Louis, MO) – Chef
- Stefan Jacob (Terrebonne, QC) – Owner of Le Gras Dur Restaurant and Food Trucks
- Jae Lee (New York, NY) – Owner of Nowon
- Marissa Leon-John (Terrebonne, QC) – Private Chef
- Tu Le (Edmonton, AB) – Owner of Jack’s Burger Shack
- Tyler Thrift (Brooklyn, NY) – Chef and Co-Owner of Virginia Smashburginia
