Beth Sholom Synagogue Welcomes Rabbi Louis J. Sachs to Clergy Team
Toronto — Beth Sholom Synagogue has officially announced the addition of Rabbi Louis J. Sachs to its clergy team, effective October 28, 2024. Rabbi Sachs joins Senior Rabbi Aaron Flanzraich and Cantor Eric Moses, bringing with him a reputation for warmth, leadership, and innovation. Known for his ability to design dynamic programs and foster meaningful spiritual experiences, Rabbi Sachs is set to play a key role in furthering Beth Sholom’s mission to create a spiritually rich and inclusive environment for both its congregation and the wider community.
With a distinguished background in community building, Rabbi Sachs is celebrated for his work with young families and professionals, designing programs that connect tradition with modern life. His addition to Beth Sholom’s clergy is expected to expand the synagogue’s outreach initiatives and enhance its services, creating new opportunities for engagement.

Rabbi Sachs’ first weekend at Beth Sholom will be marked by a series of welcoming events running from Friday, November 1, through Sunday, November 3. The weekend will include a Community Shabbat Dinner on Friday evening, Shacharit services on Saturday, and a family-focused “Mad Science & Meet ‘N Greet” event on Sunday. These events are open to both members and the greater community, encouraging attendees to connect with Rabbi Sachs and learn about his vision for Beth Sholom’s future.
Beth Sholom’s Executive Director, Stephanie Krasman, highlighted Rabbi Sachs’ commitment to fostering inclusive Jewish spaces. “His leadership will enrich our community, and we are excited for the future with him on our clergy team,” she shared.
In his role as Director of Outreach and Young Families, Rabbi Sachs will spearhead initiatives designed to strengthen ties within Beth Sholom’s diverse congregation and inspire action within the community. Beth Sholom Synagogue, a long-standing fixture in Toronto’s Jewish community, continues to focus on enhancing spiritual experiences, providing Jewish education, and fostering connections across all ages.
Rabbi Sachs holds a B.A. in Religious Studies from the University of California, Davis, and received his M.A. and rabbinic ordination from the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies. His experience spans both Canada and the U.S., where he has launched successful programs for young families, redesigned youth services, and enhanced community engagement.
