Beaches Jazz Festival Launches Summer Celebrations in Toronto’s East End

TORONTO –  Toronto’s east end resonates with the vibrant sounds of jazz, salsa, and more as the Beaches Jazz Festival kicked off its 36th annual celebration this past Friday. This iconic event, renowned for uniting music enthusiasts from across the city, promises a month-long extravaganza of free performances and cultural experiences.

Spanning from July 5th onward, the festival’s lineup features a diverse array of genres including jazz, salsa, hip hop, blues, disco, house, ska, and rock. With over hundreds of artists gracing stages at Jimmie Simpson Park and Woodbine Park, attendees can expect an eclectic blend of local talents and international stars.

Mayor Olivia Chow inaugurated the festival at Jimmie Simpson Park, emphasizing its role as a highlight of Toronto’s summer calendar. Attendees can anticipate themed weekends like the lively “Salsa on the Beach” and the electrifying “Groovin’ in the Park,” which celebrate Toronto’s rich cultural diversity.

    • Sounds of Leslieville and Riverside: July 5-7 at Jimmie Simpson Park.
    • Salsa on the Beach: July 12-14 at Woodbine Park.
    • TD Weekend: July 18-21 at Woodbine Park.
    • OLG Weekend: July 26-28 at Woodbine Park, featuring Groovin’ in the Park.
    • Streetfest: July 25-27 along Queen St. E.

In addition to musical delights, the festival offers a platform for engagement with artists like Swing Shift Band leader Jim John, Quincy Bullen, and Witch Prophet.
