Mississauga Set to Reopen Revitalized Anaka Park Sports and Community Complex

Anaka Park reopens with upgraded sports facilities, improved accessibility features and new community amenities

MISSISSAUGA — The City of Mississauga and the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board will officially celebrate the reopening of Anaka Park next week following a major revitalization project that has transformed the site into a modern sports and community hub.

Mayor Carolyn Parrish, members of Mississauga City Council and representatives from the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board are scheduled to attend the reopening ceremony on June 9 at the park, located at 7666 Anaka Drive.

The project reflects a partnership between the City and the school board aimed at creating a shared recreational space that serves both students and the surrounding community.

New sports facilities at the heart of the project

The centrepiece of the redevelopment is a fully lit multi-use sports complex that replaces the former soccer field.

New features include:

• A multi-use artificial turf field
• Four-lane running track
• Long jump facilities
• Triple jump facilities
• Spectator bleachers

The upgraded facilities are designed to support school athletics, community recreation and organized sports programming throughout the year.

During school hours, the field will be used by Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Secondary School. The facility will be available for public bookings during evenings and weekends through the City’s permit system.

Accessibility and community improvements

In addition to the sports facilities, the revitalization project includes several community-focused upgrades designed to improve accessibility and visitor experience.

New amenities include:

• An upgraded playground
• New play structure
• Improved accessibility features
• Sandbox area
• Outdoor fitness equipment
• Additional seating areas
• Improved pathway connections

The project also includes expanded tree planting throughout the site, helping create a visual buffer for neighbouring homes while enhancing the park’s natural environment.

Shared community investment

City officials say the renewed park supports both educational and recreational goals.

For students, the upgraded facilities provide enhanced opportunities for athletics, physical education and outdoor learning. For residents, the park offers a modern public space designed to encourage active living, community engagement and healthy lifestyles.
