Amy de Nobriga Launches ‘The Walking Therapist’ to Make Mental Health Care More Accessible

Toronto, ON – Social Worker and Therapist Amy de Nobriga is revolutionizing mental health care with the launch of The Walking Therapist, a modern and adaptable counselling service designed to fit seamlessly into clients’ daily lives. This innovative approach offers therapy sessions while walking, in the comfort of a client’s home, or via video chat, providing flexibility beyond traditional office-based therapy.

The Walking Therapist is rooted in a person-centered approach, ensuring accessibility, comfort, and support. Walking therapy sessions combine movement with counselling, allowing clients to process emotions and thoughts while engaging in light exercise. This approach fosters a relaxed environment and integrates therapeutic support into daily routines at school, work, or home.

Breaking Barriers in Mental Health Support

One of the key advantages of walking therapy is its ability to create an open and non-judgmental space. Walking alongside a therapist can enhance the therapeutic relationship, fostering a sense of equality and ease. Additionally, the physical act of walking can serve as a metaphor for progress, reinforcing personal growth throughout the therapy process.

Clients who utilize The Walking Therapist services may be able to access their insurance benefits for sessions, with direct billing options available depending on the provider. This added convenience makes therapy more accessible to those who may have faced financial or logistical barriers to receiving mental health support.

Key Benefits of Walking Therapy:

  • Stress Reduction: Walking can help relieve tension, improve circulation, and lower blood pressure.
  • Stronger Therapeutic Relationship: Walking side by side can create a feeling of parity and ease.
  • Encourages Open Conversations: The act of walking can make discussing personal challenges feel more natural and relaxed.
  • Symbolic of Progress: Movement reinforces the journey of self-improvement and healing.
