Achēv Receives $196,100 in Ontario Trillium Foundation Funding to Strengthen Peel-Halton Services

What the Ontario Trillium Foundation Funding Means for Achēv Clients

MISSISSAUGA — Achēv has received $196,100 in provincial funding through two Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) capital grants, supporting technology upgrades and service improvements across its Peel and Halton Region resource centres.

A representative of Mississauga Centre MPP Natalia Kusendova-Bashta met with the Achēv team this week to recognize the investment, which has enhanced access to technology and streamlined client services at five local centres in Brampton, Malton, Mississauga and Oakville.

“For many years, Achēv has done outstanding work in Mississauga and across the Regions of Peel and Halton, providing valuable services to new immigrants and Ontarians,” Kusendova-Bashta said. “It is profound to see how our government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation is enhancing Achēv’s service delivery and helping its clients open new doors to employment, language training, and more.”

Technology Upgrades Across Five Centres

The funding includes two separate capital grants awarded in 2024 and 2025.

A $64,200 grant awarded in June 2025 was used to replace outdated computers across Achēv’s Peel-Halton client resource centres. The investment delivered 50 new desktop computers and 12 laptops, allowing clients to access reliable technology to support job searches, training and learning programs.

A second grant of $131,900, awarded in June 2024, funded the introduction of tablets and self-service kiosks at the same five locations. The omni-channel system allows clients to independently register, sign in and access services in multiple languages, improving privacy, accessibility and overall efficiency. The system also enables real-time client feedback to support ongoing service improvements.

“These Ontario Trillium Foundation grants have allowed us to modernize our service delivery and better meet the needs of our diverse communities,” said Moya MacKinnon, Achēv’s Senior Vice President of External Relations. “By upgrading technology and improving access, we are ensuring that newcomers and Canadians alike can achieve their goals with dignity and efficiency.”

Supporting Newcomers and Communities

Achēv has been operating for more than 30 years and is now one of the largest providers of employment, settlement, language, women’s, youth and technology-focused services in the Greater Toronto Area. The organization supports newcomers and residents through programs designed to improve workforce participation, community integration and long-term economic stability.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation is an agency of the Ontario government focused on building healthy and vibrant communities. In the last year alone, OTF invested nearly $105 million into 732 community projects and multi-sector partnerships across Ontario, supporting economic well-being, youth development, community spaces and sustainability initiatives.
