58th Annual Cavalcade of Lights Kicks Off Tomorrow at Nathan Phillips Square
TORONTO – The City of Toronto is set to dazzle residents and visitors with the 58th Annual Cavalcade of Lights, beginning tomorrow at Nathan Phillips Square. Presented by Desjardins Financial Group, the highly anticipated event will showcase a vibrant blend of live performances, cultural displays, and mesmerizing light installations under this year’s theme, Shine.
The festivities will run from 5 to 10 p.m., with highlights including Indigenous blessings, Afro-Caribbean music, circus acts, and a spectacular tree-lighting ceremony. Mayor Olivia Chow will address the crowd at 6:20 p.m., leading up to the illumination of the iconic Christmas tree and square at 6:40 p.m.

The opening event will commence with a welcome and blessing from Indigenous Elder Jimmy Dick, accompanied by drumming from Spirit Storm Singers and hoop dancing by Theland Kicknosway. Musical performances include Zaynab Wilson MoZayic’s Afro-Caribbean rhythms and the eclectic sounds of Moskitto Bar. Attendees can also enjoy a Dragon Dance by Northern Legs Southern Fists and dazzling circus acts by Zero Gravity Circus.

For those unable to attend the opening, the captivating lighting installations will remain on display until January 7, 2025. The annual Cavalcade of Lights continues to be a cornerstone of Toronto’s festive season, inviting all to celebrate community and culture.
