29 Trailblazers Honoured with 2024 Order of Ontario Appointments
TORONTO – On January 1, 2025, the Honourable Edith Dumont, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario and Chancellor of the Order of Ontario, announced 29 new appointments to the province’s highest honour. The 2024 appointees, recognized for their outstanding contributions across diverse fields, will be formally invested at a ceremony in Toronto later this year.
The Order of Ontario celebrates individuals who have made a profound and lasting impact on the province, the country, and the world. Appointees hail from various sectors, including public service, medicine, skilled trades, technology, sports, health care, science, and the arts.
“The 2024 appointees to the Order of Ontario have enriched the lives of countless people in our province and well beyond,” said Lieutenant Governor Edith Dumont. “Together, they have attained the highest level of excellence in many fields, and may we all be inspired by their remarkable contributions.”

Among the appointees are notable figures such as Zanana Akande, a trailblazer in public service; Marilyn Denis, a beloved television personality; Vivek Goel, a leader in academia and health innovation; and Royson James, an acclaimed journalist. These individuals represent the breadth and diversity of talent and dedication within Ontario.
Michael Ford, Minister of Citizenship and Multiculturalism, praised the honourees, stating, “These remarkably dedicated individuals exemplify the spirit and achievements that make Ontario a great place to live. We commend their invaluable contributions and express our gratitude for everything they do to help build a stronger, more vibrant Ontario.”
