2026 Kia Sportage Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid Models Arrive with Bold Tech, New Trims, and Enhanced Driver Assistance

TORONTO – Kia Canada has officially unveiled its refreshed 2026 Sportage Hybrid (HEV) and Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) models, bringing major upgrades in technology, safety, and design to one of the brand’s top-selling SUVs. Canadian drivers can expect to see the new Sportage HEV begin arriving at dealerships this month, while the PHEV variant is scheduled to follow in Q3 2025.

The latest Sportage lineup introduces two new trimsEX Premium in the HEV and EX in the PHEV—offering greater flexibility and affordability in Kia’s electrified offerings. These additions expand Kia’s three-pronged powertrain strategy in Canada, which now includes internal combustion, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid options.

“The refreshed 2026 Kia Sportage hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains offer Canadians the eco-conscious, fuel-saving options they are looking for, while not compromising on safety and technology,” said David Sherrard, Director of Strategic Planning at Kia Canada.

New Design Meets Driver-Centric Innovation

The 2026 Sportage maintains its sharp “Opposites United” design philosophy, adding new front and rear bumpers, stacked LED headlights, and updated alloy wheels. Inside, drivers will find an upgraded tech suite, including:

  • Dual 12.3-inch panoramic displays

  • New 10-inch Head-up Display (HUD)

  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (standard)

  • Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) with over-the-air updates

  • Digital Key 2.0 for smartphone-based vehicle access and sharing

  • 360° Surround View Monitor, wireless charging pad, and premium Harman Kardon audio system (available)

Comfort upgrades include heated rear seats, power-folding mirrors, and smart climate controls—all aimed at elevating daily drives and weekend getaways alike.

Safety at the Forefront

Kia has enhanced the 2026 Sportage with the latest Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). New features include:

  • Forward Collision Avoidance Assist 2 with Direct Oncoming Detection & Avoidance

  • Highway Driving Assist 2 for lane changes and steering support

  • Standard Parking Distance Warning (PDW-F/S/R)

  • Hands-on Detection (HOD) to ensure driver engagement

Both the HEV and PHEV variants share a 1.6-litre turbocharged GDI engine, paired with revised electric motors and a 6-speed automatic transmission with standard AWD.

  • Trims: EX ($46,245), EX Premium ($49,245), SX ($52,745)

Cargo capacity for the HEV offers up to 1,119L, while the dual-level cargo floor adds additional flexibility.
